A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
Hello December! The end of the year is just around the corner and we are a mere step away from 2024. It is time to celebrate the achievements from the year passing by while we also reflect on our individual and collective milestones.
The willingness to learn, unlearn, and re-learn has held us in good stead and as a community, we have always been open to taking on new challenges and accomplishing goals together. The only thing that evolves is a renewed zeal to accelerate our mission and rejoice in being instrumental in building the world of tomorrow and being a significant part of history.
The world is truly unpredictable and dynamic and isn’t that what makes it brimming with possibilities? We aspire to affect change in the world we inhabit and we will continue to do so. As our students co-create and craft their future, and faculty members bolster this journey with knowledge and ethics, the potential shines bright on the horizon.
As we slowly move into a brand-new year, we continue with optimism, determination, grit, and relentless pursuit of our collective mission – of re-imagining learning for the 21st century and beyond. Here we are, gazing into the future forward. Here we are, looking ahead.
To catch a glimpse of the weekly happenings, read on. For real-time updates, please follow us on our social media channels. If you have stories or news to share with the Krea community, we invite you to connect with us at all.commsteam@krea.edu.in.

The men's and women's football teams were coached by coach Kishore from Great Goals Chennai — an organisation dedicated to developing competitive, compassionate, disciplined, adaptable, driven, and responsible players. Kishore helped students with drills, different techniques, and fitness. In the coming week, the Club will welcome former women's football team captain, and Krea alum, Ahana Pairee on campus to train the women's football team.
The energy and enthusiasm on the training grounds have been palpable, with students pushing their limits, honing their skills, and building camaraderie beyond the field. The boot camps serve as a testament to our commitment to developing well-rounded athletes who excel not only in their respective sports but also as leaders both on and off the playing field.

Culture is the collective thought process of the society or an organisation or any group or even a family. Values are the foundational stone of these cultures – are the ones which are core and are the cornerstone on which the culture is built. We define values as the non-negotiable part of an individual and the guiding principles for an organisation. Culture is the one which is manifesting itself, whereas the values, the part of the iceberg which is below the water level. And one of the fulcrums of change happens to be the emergence of the new generations – besides the other contextual factors. We are fascinated by the theory of Culture by Charles Handy. This talks about dominance of Power, Process (role), Achievement and Support – characteristics. We identified tendencies (of individuals) of these cultural aspects and documented them. And the research on Culture and Values and their linkage started in classrooms of business schools. We had a sample of about 200 students responding to the survey. The objectives of the study were the following: 1. To identify the Culture of the class from the tendencies of the students of the class. 2. To see if they want to change and if so why 3. To deduce the Culture of the class through the values of the students and see if this matches with the finding of step 1 – and see why it does not match, if it does not.

The Krea community's holistic development was the focus during the Wellbeing Week, held from November 18 to 24, 2023. The gratitude desk teemed with letters overflowing with appreciation. These heartfelt messages, personally delivered by volunteers, spread warmth throughout our community. Students connected with their bodies through activities like dance movement therapy and Zumba sessions. Meditation and yoga provided a space for participants to be in the present moment. Creative expressions like community mandala painting and journaling allowed students to explore their creativity.
The session, Filter Coffee, Unfiltered Conversations, fostered insightful interactions between students and faculty. This platform offered a unique opportunity for faculty members to share their experiences and shed light on transitioning into new environments and life phases.
The highlight of the week was the inspiring panel discussion titled, Evolving Coping Strategies for College Life: Krea Students' Experiences of their Academic Journey. Here, students shared their journeys, navigating and overcoming challenges, to instill hope and motivation within the student community. Overall, the emphasis on physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing throughout the week served as an initial step toward fostering sustained engagements.
